The Stink of Politics
January 22nd 2008 12:36
I know it is only human nature, but isn't it both sad and amusing to notice when a politician stinks they try as hard as they can to make people think that the smell is coming from somewhere else?
The news tonight featured a small section on the latest push to check supermarket prices by the Rudd government, with a short interview given by the leader of the opposition who asked how the Australian people could trust Kevin Rudd, when he "hadn't done anything about petrol prices" and so how could we think he would be able to do anything about other economic issues?
Er, hello.... Petrol prices have been rising almost exponentially since the liberal government came to power over ten years ago. The Howard government did nothing to change this, nor even were willing to admit that the government could change it. Indeed, we had Mr Howard telling us that tax breaks on petrol were just not possible, and that GST...? Well, you know, we can't make exceptions blah and blah.
So Mr Rudd has been in power for two months, and it's "come on Kev, what have you been doing? Why haven't you fixed those petrol prices, eh?"
What a cheap shot from a smelly pollie, whose stained and stinking colleagues were kicked out of government in this country for the very reason that he is asking the question. Gst, petrol prices, dirty deals with the yanks, ie, free trade with us if you come and get your ass kicked in Iraq with us so we don't look so bad, inhumane and stupid immigration laws, where if you are asian, refuse to speak english and have no intention of integrating but fly quantas you can come and in your thousands, but if your asian, unable to speak english and come in a fishing boat with a couple of your mates, you have to be put in jail or deported. And of course, the worst iniquity of all, the nasty and deliberate shafting of the ordinary workers of this country.
It all adds up to crap. A government which was only interested in one thing - money, and the people who had money. Bugger the ordinary bloke, bugger the poor, bugger the out of work who were all dole bludgers, regardless, bugger the small business man and most of all bugger the farmers and the environment and anyone or anything else which got in the way of making a quick buck for the coffers of the reserve bank.
No wonder Howard lost his seat. But the stink remains - and apparently it has to be passed on to Kev as well.
Sorry you sick, degenerate bastards. Perhaps the world is now in a state where things simply cannot be improved much - petrol prices - or any prices for that matter, will never come down. Niether will the price of a can of MIlo, or a litre of milk.
We know this - the only redress is going to be a necessary and long overdue redistribution of wealth. I wonder if Kev will be up to it.
Perhaps not, but one thing he doesn't deserve is to have to wear the stink of the last Liberal government. He just has to clean it up.

The only thing is only occasionally sucks a little less than the other.
Kev was lucky. The bar was set so low that he does not have to try too hard.
