SILENT WALLS
January 8th 2008 11:43
And the lonely cry their secrets
To the silent walls
While, safely bound
In our own soft shells, we watch
And wait until they swallow
This day's brew of pain
And turn once more
To laugh with us again.
While the pain burns
Their insides - life fire used
In wasteful keeping of cool,
Lest they burn our own cocoons
And revealed, find us as frightened
Small and despairing as they.
Like children leaving cake for Santa
Hoping only to find crumbs come morning
The lonely wake each day in hope
That their small gift of heart
By some traveling soul, not left
To dry and sour into something
Untouchable.
Down the secret paths of the heart
There are doors to infinite love
Locked - that we might survive
In a world where pain drives
Every need; and the weak -
Though great of heart - sink
Beneath the striving masses.
This, the lonely know, for they see
More than others how love is kept
Unrevealed; closed in the hearts
Of the many, whilst they walk
In silent longing, alone in the crowded ways
And the pain burns their life away
While we watch the keep of our hearts
Lest some stranger enter, and steal
What, in our deepest being we know
We were born only to give.

Very true, so very true.
I certainly will read more and look forward to it.
Thanks for sharing.
