Again comes this motion in stillness
The moment quivers, then splits apart
Upon mirrored pond, now disturbed
By unseen something, probing self.
Spreading ripples, buffeting pride
Make tumbling ego images dance
Like laughing clowns around me
All their distorted, wobbly faces - mine
Once, besieged by visions of self
I'd laugh along, agree to play, until
From fear, command the pond - Be still!
Then, image set anew in heart of ice
I'd etch more deep the pool of self delight
Adding here and there a touch of extra black
But soon all was overcome by darkness
Might just as well be demons
So I lie in wait, with nets of words
To cast, and snare at water's edge
The touching tip of this angel's wing
To mind bog mire the nightwing beast
And in harness, bend it to my will.
But night creeps on cold dark hours
Over frozen pond I watch in vain
And a harsh winter of silence falls
Across the frozen land of my soul.

That is some fine imagery, Grumpy.
