You would think that if someone were going to write a blog on a scientific, political or philosophical subject they would make some effort to know at least enough about it to be able to spell the technical terms required, even if they don't actually know anything else.
I mean - what's the point? Especially when you see no change whatsoever over a long period in the quality of the writing.
What does this say?
Who is going to take any notice of a technical article written by someone who obviously has no idea about the subject matter? Particularly when you realise that if they did actually know anything about it they would never make the blatantly foolish mistakes they do make.
Does this reflect the unconcerned and cynical attitude of the uneducated? Or does it reflect the stupidity of people who believe they can write about anything simply because it "might make a good blog".
Well.. derr!
Yes, I'm grumpy today. Some of you lot really piss me off with your lack of literacy, your obvious lack of education in the subjects you prattle on about and your lack of concern for your readers.. I have no problem with personal posts, or simple reporting where it is obvious the person has just mispelled a word, but when it comes to popular posts written by those who ought to know better after blogging for long enough to have improved both their knowledge and their literary skills... well, I for one don't think you deserve to be read. Not because what you say is not interesting, but because you obviously couldn't care less how you say it, down to and including a disregard for the rules of written English. And this means you just don't care about your reader - you know, the person/s you are supposedly writing for? If you don't care enough about me as a reader to write properly, why should I read you at all?
Malapropisms can be humorous and bad spelling can be forgiven, but not when they are just plain evidence of deliberate and unconcerned ignorance.

By the way, I've been watching and waiting to see if you're going to learn to put a bit of space between your paragraphs.

See, new paragraph.
No, I won't give up on literacy in a forum where it is the sole reason for existence, not soon anyway. It's a sad reflection of our undisciplined fall into mental decrepitude that people younger than forty have to use a calculator to add two numbers together, let alone the fact that our language, both verbal and written, is devolving to headline speak on the one hand and a monosyllabic series of grunts on the other.
The wasteland continues to grow. I refuse to join.

Or should that be a more commiserative, THERE THERE???
It is a bizarre 'world', the place of blogs is it not?
The near illiterate and mentally obtuse receive accolades and have vast virtual crowds doting on their every syllable, unevenly sprayed at them through confused syntax, and yet they crown them with praise, no matter the appalling lack of grammar, acumen and wit, etc etc etc…
Such is this 'world'.
We can leave it, can we not? Traipse virtually through many other 'worlds', only to be greeted with the same phenomena...
Let’s face it. We are seeing the result of government interference with the education system, where the idea of spelling correctly was abandoned and the rise of phonetics was embraced. Then they all found out that the business world didn't take too kindly to such nonsense. But, by then, the pupils of this abomination of an experiment had graduated as teachers, and being unable to spell themselves, perpetuated the problem.
Ok, so this was in public schools, for the most part, I expect.
Anyway, I like this place, for it is one of the few, if not only, that caters to Aussies, without it being a parade ground for the sexually frustrated. Well, some may be so, but it isn't a pick up point at least!
Or is it?
Maybe it is, just another form of it, a more subtle and laid back social form of seduction, culminating in a psycho babble union of spirits, kindred or not...
cheers
