Canto 1
January 3rd 2008 05:06
Once captive in the fear filled world
I rested, glimpses of true light
reflected from the hardness of life
Wherein lay a remembrance
no longer imaged, but dreamlike
Hid behind word and world
Like an afterglow of creation
Stumbling into freespace, I learned
Sky above held mystery more
Than blue depths showed, yet
Mystery hid within harlequin smiles
The Gods unwilling to disrobe
In other than darkened rooms
To dance the dreams of enigma
I too learned to dance, such motions
The world demanded, such movements
As might validate my life of flesh
The sternly guiding spectres stood
Impatient eyes afire and waiting
In the silent spaces of the night
"Behold the fire", they chanted
"Behold the endless night
Behold the silent music
Behold the infinite light."
"You cannot tell, you cannot see
You cannot hear, you cannot be
But take this mantle as your own."
While down the fear filled days I fled
From youth to understanding
That lest the fire of soul awake
T'were better led in cool climes of night
Where reason dwelt betwixt the sheets
Of over arching darkness
And never ending light.
Not long I tarried neath
The pleasant boughs of spring
Where tempting lay the flowered path
To soul's awakening summer land
For neath the jewel bedazzling blooms
I felt the cold arches of the years
Lurking in the waiting earth
And silent watchers lined the path
As down the falling season's tide
I rode on dreams of death to winter
Whilst the never ceasing chant intoned
"You cannot tell, you cannot see
You cannot hear, you cannot be

Yes, I have been in some dark places - but not any more. Now I just write about them.
BTW, yes I came back, but set the bar a little higher. Now it will be all poetry and philosophy.
Screw the masses...

There are some here who will be most interested, including me. I'll put the word out.
